3D printer creates perfect prosthetic leg for a handicapped dog

Company engineers "System 3D" (3DS) created a prosthesis to be produced with a 3D printer for a dog that was born with malformed front paws.

Derby, a husky, could only walk with difficulty on soft surfaces, such as carpets, but not on hard surfaces such as concrete or wood. Thanks to the new pair of dentures, created with the help of the veterinary Derrick Campana, he can now walk and run anywhere.

"He runs with Sherri and I every day, at least three to four kilometers. When I saw him running well with his new legs I was amazed, "said the pet owner, Don Portanova.

"The beauty of 3-D printer is that if the design needs tweaking, we do not expect production time and expense of the traditional manufacturing process, we can simply print a new pair," said the vice president of the 3DS.
