The Boy and the Nuts (Short story)

A little boy was very fond of cashew nuts. His mother would often oblige him with a few nuts. One day, the child asked for a few nuts to eat. Since the mother was busy in some household work, she asked the child to take out the cashew nuts himself from the jar.

The child never before had an opportunity to take out the nuts on his own. He put his hand into the jar and filled his little fist to such and extent that when he tries to draw his hand out of the jar, the narrow mouth of the jar did not allow the hand to come out with its increased size. The boy tries again and again, but he did not succeed. The little boy was unwilling to drop a single cashew nut. However, without loosening the fist it was just impossible for him to draw his hand out.

The long unsuccessful try left the boy in quandary. he began crying loudly. The mother came running, When she knew the reason for his cry, she said, "My dear, drop a few nuts to get the rest. You can bring out your hand easily. Try for those the next time."

Moral of the story:
Do not attempt many at a time.
